MAGDRL: Silver Spring PetSmart and Dogs & Cats April 17, 2004

We had a "2-fer" -- we attended two events in one day! It started with a Meet & Greet at the Silver Spring PetSmart. Although this store is not in a high-traffic area, we had quite a bit of interest in adoption. We finished up the day with a visit to the grand opening of Dogs and Cats Veterinary Referral Center in Bowie, MD. MD/DC/NorVa Volunteer Coordinator Rosie Smiga's daughter Gabrielle enjoyed the company of Lissa's furkids Jupiter (left) and Merlot (right.) Rosie brought her son Joey and her Dane boy Dempsey who is recovering from a fractured pelvis. After being cooped up for so long, Dempsey was ready to play!
Merlot is wearing her Nobile and Tavan donation jacket. Thanks to the generosity of this company, our Danes collect funds for our orphans at MAGDRL outings.
MAGDRL volunteer Lisa Lightner brought her handsome Dane boy Bagheera to this event. Bagheera survived bloat and surgery, and is looking great!
MD/DC/NorVa Foster Coordinator and Trainer Tressa Everts (aka Danation Foster Mom!) stopped by before teaching a Canine First Aid class on at Fidos for Freedom.
The last half of the day was spent at the open house for the new Dogs & Cats Veterinary Referral Center. Their grand opening featured a Fidos for Freedom presentation, police dog demo, and clinic tour.
The center offers specialties in Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Oncology. It's located at 6700 Laurel-Bowie Road in Bowie, MD. Tel: 301-809-8800.
