MAGDRL: PetSmart Catonsville    October 08, 2005

It was a dreary, rainy day at our regular 2nd Saturday Meet & Greet at Catonsville PetSmart. Nevertheless, many folks who found shelter in the store, stopped by our table.

Our volunteers for the day were (l-r) Pat Wilhelme, Heather Tawney, Fred Wilhelme (the Dane magnet!) and my Danes Merlot and Jupiter. What a wonderful team -- neither the Wilhelmes nor Heather brought their Danes, but they came out to offer a helping hand. Love those spare hands!!!!

At the end of this successful outing, and we had folks following us out the door just to see Jupiter and Merlot!

Here's my boy Jupiter surrounded by kids -- as usual. Visitors often comment about how calm and quiet he is, therefore he does not intimidate even the smallest kids. He's 5 years old now and has been coming to MAGDRL events for 4 years.  He's a walking advertisement for adult adoption, especially for families with small children.

At the end of the day, just as I got Jupiter and Merlot into the truck in a pouring rain, a couple came up and asked if I would take them out for them to see. Nope -- they'd already been out for 5 hours and that's enough! Instead, I gave the couple a card with the MAGDRL web site on it, told them we're at Catonsville every month, and asked them to call if they'd like more information.

The key to continuing to bring them to events is not pushing them when they're tired. I hope that Jupiter will grace MAGDRL events for another 4 years!
