MAGDRL: PetSmart Annapolis February 18, 2006
The Annapolis PetSmart welcomed MAGDRL volunteers at our second outing at this store this year. The weather was cold, but the crowds were steady. We also welcomed two new Dane Ambassadors! At left is Annapolis Meet & Greet Coordinator Joan Schramm with her newly adopted Dane boy Napoleon (in the Thankful Paws donation jacket) and her senior Dane girl Ethel. Today we welcomed Napoleon at his first MAGDRL event!
My Dane boy Jupiter is standing in the middle with his roommate Merlot on the right, also wearing a donation jacket. At the far right is Heidy Suit, an adoption applicant who met my Danes when I did her home visit last weekend. She came out to see them again today -- she can't get enough of our sweet Great Danes!
Scott Gunn adopted his Dane girl Angel last August. Angel and her brother were given up because they are deaf. They were bone skinny, and substandard care had resulted in a serious case of demodexx mange. With Scott's patience and diligent care, Angel looks fabulous now! He shared a photo of Angel at Christmas -- she looked stunning posed against Santa in his red suit. This girl really lucked up and got a stellar owner!
At right is my boy Jupiter. He is tolerant of everyone and every thing. He exemplifies what an orphan can become when an owner spends a little time and effort to train and socialize them.
Joan and her husband Michael adopted their Brindle Dane Ethel several years ago. After their experience with Ethel, they fell in love with the breed. A few months ago, they fostered Great Dane Napoleon -- and they quickly became "foster failures." Napoleon has found his forever home with them.
Joan is also active in MAGDRL fundraising and events, and shares an excellent job coaching newsletter with members. Michael helps set up our monthly M&Gs, and his band played at our Bullroast fundraiser. What a great volunteer family they are!
